Scheduled passenger flights returning to Sarnia airport Thursday

Scheduled passenger flights are set to return to Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport on Thursday, Nov. 5, with Aspen Air Charters announcing twice-weekly service to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. The new route would restore scheduled passenger aircraft service to Sarnia for the first time since 2020, with additional flights to Kitchener-Waterloo also planned.

Scheduled passenger flights are returning to Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport this week, with Aspen Air Charters set to begin twice-weekly service between Sarnia and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport on Thursday, Nov. 5.

The airport announced the new service Tuesday, saying flights will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, providing a direct connection between Sarnia and downtown Toronto.

According to the published schedule, flights will depart Sarnia at 7:30 a.m. and arrive in Toronto at 8:30 a.m. A second departure from Sarnia is listed for 7:15 p.m., arriving in Toronto at 8:15 p.m. The return flight from Billy Bishop is scheduled to depart at 5:20 p.m., arriving in Sarnia at 6:30 p.m.

The announcement marks the planned return of scheduled passenger aircraft service to Sarnia for the first time since Air Canada discontinued its flights in 2020. The airport currently offers an Air Canada connection to Toronto Pearson International Airport through a ground transportation service operated by Landline.

Aspen Air Charters, which operates smaller aircraft for regional passenger transportation, had previously indicated plans to introduce Sarnia service, although an earlier anticipated October launch did not materialize.

The airport also indicated that additional flights are planned, including a future connection between Sarnia and Kitchener-Waterloo. No launch date was provided for that route.

Ticket prices and passenger capacity were not included in Tuesday’s announcement.
