A county-wide BINGO challenge is inviting residents to explore local history and win prizes along the way.
Heritage Sarnia-Lambton has launched its Summer BINGO Challenge, encouraging participants to visit museums and heritage sites across the region. At each stop, visitors can complete activities listed on a BINGO card and receive stickers from staff to track their progress.
“This challenge represents our commitment to making local history accessible and engaging for everyone,” said Jessica Stevenson, Marketing and Events Coordinator for Lambton County Museums. “We wanted to create something that would encourage people to discover the incredible historical treasures right in their own backyard while having fun doing it.”
BINGO cards can be picked up at any participating site or downloaded from heritagelambton.ca. Each completed row—horizontal, vertical or diagonal—earns a ballot for a prize draw, and participants who complete the entire card receive ten bonus ballots.
Sites include:
-
Arkona Lions Museum
-
Forest Museum
-
Lambton County Archives
-
Lambton Heritage Museum
-
Moore Museum
-
Oil Museum of Canada
-
Plympton-Wyoming Museum
-
Sombra Museum
As a bonus, visitors who stop by the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery and share their favourite historical piece from the exhibition Storm Watch will earn an additional ballot.
The contest runs until September 2, 2025, with the grand prize draw taking place on September 17.
Activities listed on the BINGO card include learning about Black gold at the Oil Museum of Canada, playing a tune on the pump organ at Moore Museum, exploring the tools used in past eras, recreating a family photo in period costume, and finding local World War I soldiers in museum exhibits.
All eight museums in the Heritage Sarnia-Lambton network offer regular programming, and a membership to one site includes free admission to the others—except for the Arkona Lions Museum, which remains free with park entry to Rock Glen Conservation Area.
