Lions Night fundraiser to support Lambton College student food bank

The Nov. 4 Sting game will feature student-led fundraisers, special jerseys and $12 tickets as Lambton College returns to Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Lambton College students will raise money for their campus emergency food bank and clothing closet when the Sarnia Sting host the Owen Sound Attack on Nov. 4.

The fifth annual Lions Night takes place at Progressive Auto Sales Arena, with puck drop at 7:05 p.m.

According to a release from Lambton College, members of Lion’s Mind, the college’s peer wellness collective, will run a Chuck-a-Puck fundraiser supporting the Lion’s Heart Emergency Student Food Bank and Clothing Closet. The service helps students experiencing food insecurity and financial hardship.

Fire Science Technology students will also hold a boot drive for Muscular Dystrophy Canada, while esthetician students will offer temporary tattoos for fans.

The Sting will wear newly designed Lambton College jerseys for the game. Students in the college’s Sports and Recreation Administration program will help with game-night activities, including the first intermission.

The event is part of a partnership that gives students experience in game-day operations and special events.

Student leaders will participate in the ceremonial puck drop, and Lambton alumnus and country musician Colt McLauchlin will sing the national anthem.

Other activities announced by the college include prize giveaways and a T-shirt toss. Fans are encouraged to wear blue.

Tickets are advertised at $12 through the Sarnia Sting website.
