Work has resumed on the river sediment “eyesore” at Sarnia Chris Hadfield Airport.
Sediment removed from Sarnia Harbour as part of a $2.9-million dredging project and dumped at the airport was found to be slightly contaminated last winter.
But the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has found no threat to surface or groundwater quality in further tests and given the city permission to proceed.
The sub-contractor, OJD Trucking Ltd., is grading and contouring the dirt mounds and has been instructed to remove metal, timber or other debris sticking up from the ground.
The work could be completed by Friday.
