Two individuals were arrested Sunday and face charges of kidnapping and assault, Sarnia Police say.

The incident occurred just before 8 a.m. when police received a report from a concerted citizen near Victoria and Davis streets, “that they had observed an assault on an individual by two people with a bat,” a media release stated.

“Further information was that the victim was made to remove their clothing, and forced into the vehicle.”

Sarnia Police say officers responded to the area, stopped the suspect vehicle and found one victim in the back seat, and a second victim in the trunk.

“Both victims received medical treatment and did not sustain significant physical injuries.”

Police say the accused individuals and victims were known to each other.

Both accused, ages 44 and 47, face charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, and assault with a weapon. The 44-year-old faces an additional driving while suspended charge.

Both have been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
