The grand prize winner of the 2024 Bluewater Health Dream Home Lottery was announced, Thursday.
Linda Weeres of Sarnia was the winning ticket holder; she’ll have the choice between the fully-furnished, $1.2 million grand prize home at 7012 Blue Coast Heights, in Camlachie — or $900,000 in cash.
The 50/50 prize of nearly $324,000 was also drawn today, with Sarnia’s Gwen Rogers selected as the winner.
“Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets in support of the Dream Home lottery, and thank you to all of our incredible sponsors for helping to once again make this year’s Dream Home Lottery a huge success,” says Kathy Alexander, Executive Director, Bluewater Health Foundation. “We are thrilled to see this lottery continuously grow thanks to the support of our exceptionally generous community here in Sarnia-Lambton. This is our largest fundraiser, with all proceeds supporting your local hospitals, Bluewater Health and CEEH of Bluewater Health.”
The 2024 Dream Home lottery had the largest prize board in its 29-year history, boasting over 10,973 prizes valued at nearly $1.7 million. Since its inception, the lottery has raised nearly $10 million for Sarnia-Lambton’s community hospitals, Bluewater Health and Charlotte Eleanor Englehart Hospital (CEEH) of Bluewater Health.
Proceeds from this year’s lottery will help to support fundraising efforts for the redevelopment of Bluewater Health’s Cancer Clinic. The lottery is a combined effort between both the Bluewater Health Foundation and CEEH Foundation, with funds distributed equally between the foundations.
“The partnership we have built with Bluewater Health Foundation is crucial in supporting local healthcare and funding vital, life-saving care,” says Mark Braet, Chair, CEEH Foundation. “I am continuously amazed by the generosity and support of the Lambton County community – thank you to all who supported and are involved in the Dream Home Lottery – this is truly a team effort.”
