It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Deborah Lee McKenney, on October 19, 2026 at the age of 71.
Deborah will be deeply missed by her daughter Michelle (Jamie) Burgess, and her beloved grandchildren Taylor McKenney, and Amy Burgess (Raimund Gasser). Deborah was the loving great-grandmother of Brynn Balkind and River Taylor, and cherished sister of Ruth (William) Root.
Predeceased by her husband Robert McKenney, parents Ralph and Winnifred Hamilton, and brother James Hamilton.
Deborah loved spending time with her family, especially while making memories on camping trips. Among her greatest joys was her great-granddaughter, who was her ultimate partner for make-believe playdates. Deborah possessed a creative spirit and a deep appreciation for the simple things in life. Her passions ranged from the artistry of flower arranging to the craft of woodworking, where she lovingly built custom pieces for her family. She was also an avid gardener who took great pride in specializing in cannabis cultivation. When she wasn’t creating, Deborah found immense peace in nature, often spending quiet moments watching the ships pass by and the birds fly.
Cremation has taken place, a private family graveside will be held at Moore Union Cemetery, Mooretown.
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to Canadian Cancer Society (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
