A huge crowd of 2,500 to 3,000 people attended Remembrance Day services at the Sarnia Arena on Sunday.
The standing room only crowd paid tribute to current and fallen soldiers during a moving service that marked the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 62, decided to move the service from Veterans Park to the arena anticipating a large crowd and inclement weather and the decision, aided by the City of Sarnia, paid off.
Wreaths were laid before a remarkable replica Cenotaph made by students from St. Patrick’s High School.
Later, church bells pealed throughout the downtown core in remembrance of the celebrations that followed the end of the Great War a century ago.
