Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Sunday, July 13, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Thomas Roy Matthews passed away at the age of 93.

Roy will be remembered by his loving wife Barbara Matthews. Loving father of Heather Bradshaw (Jim), Kathy Leskiw (Edward), Michael Matthews (Darlene). Cherished Grandfather to Tanya Ismail (Mohamed), Jennifer Bradshaw (Matt). Treasured Great Grandfather to Layla Ismail. Dear friend of Lisa Lascelles and Jackie Lascelles. Roy will be missed by many nieces, nephews and loving friends. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Clara Matthews.

Roy, at an early age joined Imperial Oil Marine division. He served as a chief cook, wheelsman, and ships bosun. Roy retired in 1987 after 39 years of service. He had the good fortune of being a retiree for 38 years. He and Mom enjoyed many winters in Florida surrounded by many good friends.

We’d like very much to send a special thank-you to the wonderful people and facility of St Joseph’s Hospice. The care Dad and our family received was so deeply appreciated. Dad will be missed dearly and yet we celebrate the long and happy life he lived and shared.

Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Thomas’ wishes, no services will be held. Interment to take place at a later date.
