Peacefully, surrounded by loving family on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Marshall Gowland Manor in Sarnia, Carol Anne Bruner passed away at the age of 84.
Loving mother of Christine Clark, Stephen Clark, and Mark Cathers. Cherished grandmother of Laura Scott, Brittney Lawson, Natalie Opiana, Jordan Sanders, Austin and Owen Cathers. Great-grandmother of Bria and Jameson Scott, Russell and Lewyn Wilson, Seth, Liam, Layla, and Savanna Opiana. Loving sister of Wandy Baum, Stan Gledhill, and Brenda Solly. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Tom Bruner; her parents, Gwen and Jack Gledhill; and brothers Bruce Martin and Cal Martin.
Carol was the proud owner of Faye’s Bridal Shop in Peterborough for many years, having had the opportunity to buy the already-established store and build it into the empire it became. She was compelled to purchase the store, as she had worked there for many years as a teenager. Carol would host yearly bridal shows at the Peterborough Memorial Centre and helped hundreds of brides find their perfect gowns and plan their big day. She created the best tagline that she never forgot: “The most beautiful brides are groomed at Faye’s in Peterborough.”
Carol’s devotion to Jesus was at the heart of who she was. She sought to live her faith not only through prayer and words, but through compassion and kindness. She had a caring heart and a special concern for those who were hurting, lonely, struggling, or in need.
We take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord, whom she loved and served so faithfully. While our hearts are broken by her passing, we give thanks to God for the gift of her life, for the love she gave so freely, and for the example of faith she leaves with us. Her love will remain in our hearts.
“My flesh and my heart may faileth, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Carol’s wishes, no services will be held.
Sympathy may be expressed through donations to a charity of choice (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia. Memories and condolences may be sent online at www.smithfuneralhome.ca.
