Point Edward and Corunna are getting an early jump on Remembrance Day services this year.

The CORUNNA Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 447, will remember and honour veterans with a dinner and awards evening on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The dinner begins at 6 p.m., 350 Albert St., with cocktails at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10, free for veterans. For more, call 519-862-1240.

In POINT EDWARD, the Ex-Servicemen’s Association parade takes place Sunday, Nov. 5.

The parade musters at 10 a.m. at 503 Michigan Ave., and begins marching at 10:45 a.m. It will proceed to the Cenotaph on St. Clair Avenue with services starting at 11 a.m.

In bad weather, the service will move to the Point Edward Community Hall. For more, call 519-337-9822.

At AAMJIWNAANG, the annual Remembrance Day service will be held on Friday, Nov. 10, at the Cenotaph, 978 Tashmoo Ave. S.

The service begins at 11 a.m., with a luncheon to follow at the neighbouring St. Clair United Church. For more, call 519-336-8410

In SARNIA, the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 62, host its 7th annual Candlelight Tribute on Friday, Nov. 10 to remember to those who sacrificed to preserve the freedoms we have today.

Candles purchased for a minimum $5 donation come with a label on which to write a tribute to a past or serving military member.

Participants gather at City Hall between 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. and carry lit candles to place on the nearby Legion Cenotaph, 286 Front St. N.

On Saturday, Nov. 11, Sarnia’s annual Remembrance Day parade will start at 10:35 a.m. at the Legion and proceed to the Cenotaph in Veteran’s Park for the 11 a.m. service.

Christina Street will be closed, so plan accordingly. The public is welcome to return to the Legion for refreshments following the service.
