The images on display here are some of the eye-grabbing entries from a recent competition involving 45 students in the Digital Photography program at Lambton College.
"I was very impressed by the photographs,” said Leonard Segall, program co-ordinator of the Sarnia Photographic Club and board chair of the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts.
“The students found or created thoughtful scenes, photographed them with careful attention to lighting and control of the camera, and printed them so well that the print was not noticed: the image was what came through clearly and powerfully.”
The two-year college program covers street photography, still life photojournalism, posing, studio lighting and printing.
Students take numerous photo field trips and a program highlight is a trip to New York City.
Also judging the competition were Brandon David, of Brandon David Photography, in London, and The Journal’s own Glenn Ogilvie.
