Police looking for information, surveillance video, following violent attempted robbery

The Sarnia Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance after a violent attempted robbery occurred in Sherwood Village Park, Friday.

Police say the incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. when a lone female was walking her dog in the park in the area behind Oaklea Court, when she was confronted from behind by an unknown assailant.

“This individual assaulted the female and threw her to the ground while attempting to remove her purse from her,” a news release noted. “Once the female fell to the ground, the attacker fled the area.

The female was taken to hospital by ambulance, where she was treated for her injuries and released.

Police are interested in any video surveillance that may have captured the access points to the park, or images within the park itself, along with any other relevant information.
