Police have acted on citizen complaints about loud and aggressive vehicles.

Sarnia Police and the OPP teamed up to conduct an enforcement blitz in and around Canatara Park, issuing 19 charges on May 26-27.

“Ongoing complaints of high speeds, stunt driving, and improper vehicle modifications have been received in the area,” said Sarnia Police Const. Giovanni Sottosanti.

Officers targetted Alfred Street, Sandy Lane, Canatara Park, and the park entrance on Christina Street. Most charges were for speeding.

“We want everyone to enjoy the park by ensuring their safety and ask that people obey the posted speed limit signs in the area,” Sottosanti said.

“Also, residents in the area should not have to put up with squealing tires and excessive noise.”

He added more enforcement initiatives involving the two police services would be held this summer to educate drivers and enforce local traffic laws.
