Motor vehicle collisions in Sarnia have fallen sharply during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sarnia Police recorded 205 collisions in the first quarter of this year, down 45% from the same period in 2020 and before the pandemic began, according to a new report from police and Accident Support Services International Ltd. said.
Seventeen people were injured in car crashes during the first three months of this year, 30% fewer than the previous year, with one fatality each year.
Fifty-seven collisions took place in parking lots, which was more than on roads or intersections or on private drives.
Most happened around 3 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays saw the highest number of collisions, the report said.
