Northern Collegiate’s high school runners took full advantage of home ‘park’ advantage at the Canatara Meet of Champions cross country meet, held Oct. 4.
About 350 runners from across Southwestern Ontario took part in the annual event.
A pair of Aidans from Northern, Aidan James and Aidan McKenney, placed 1st and 5th respectively in the midget boys 4000 metre event. St. Patrick’s Sebastien Frenette was 2nd in the same race.
Northern’s Bryar Fournie and Lindsey Barwitzki finished first and second in the junior girls 5000 metre.
And in the junior boys 5000 metre, just one second separated Northern’s Blake Freer and St. Patrick’s Connor Antosiak, who finished 1st and 2nd respectively. Local top five finishes included:
