Sarnia Police arrested a 23-year-old city man Thursday after he allegedly pulled out a BB gun and shot a man who was with his girlfriend and two small children.
The incident began about 7 p.m. near Maxwell and Napier streets when the victim saw a man approaching with a scarf covering his face.
The attacker pulled a BB gun from a bag and began firing from about 15 feet, then sprayed the victim in the face with pepper spray, police said.
After some yelling and threats the accused and two people with him fled the area.
The victim did not seek medical attention.
The accused was uncooperative when officers found him a short distance away and tried to spit on the arresting officer, police said.
The man, who was taken into custody, is charged with 13 offences, including assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, pointing a firearm, mischief, and assaulting a police officer.
