Sarnia Police conducted a six-hour distracted driving blitz recently and had no trouble spotting drivers trying to multi-task behind the wheel.
Thirty-one tickets were issued, 28 of them to people holding, texting or talking on a cell phone while driving, an offence that carries a $490 fine and the loss of three demerit points.
Those busted ranged in age from 19 to 65.
Fifteen were men and 13 were women.
Drivers must either use a hands-free device or pull off the road to make or receive a call.
Simply holding a cell phone or accessing it at a red light or stop sign carries the same penalty.
