Coronavirus update for Monday, May 11

No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Sarnia-Lambton as of this morning.

Lambton Public Health says the number of infections is unchanged at 200, with 142 people having recovered, up six from Sunday.

The outbreak at Sarnia’s Vision Nursing Home continues.

One more death and four new infections among residents were reported Sunday. Eight residents and two staff have been infected, and three residents of the long-term care facility have been lost to the disease.

Sarnia-Lambton’s death toll is now 17.

Bluewater Health said seven patients are being treated in hospital for COVID-19, with another 11 awaiting test results.

Meanwhile, Ontario is reopening 520 provincial parks today, with another 115, including Pinery Provincial Park, opening May 15.

For the time being, activities are limited to walking, hiking, biking and birdwatching.

All buildings and facilities including washrooms, water taps, campgrounds, backcountry campsites, roofed accommodations, playgrounds, and beaches will remain closed.
