After compiling a 15-7-4 (34 points) record for 2nd place in the West Division in the regular season, the Lambton Jr. Sting U10 AAA team played ten playdown games between February and April, highlighted by a 3-2 win over the (1st place, west division) Elgin-Middlesex Canucks on the road in Komoka and a 2-2 tie vs. Chatham where the Jr. Sting scored with just 17 seconds left to keep hopes alive at PASA2.
With uncertainty of advancing after a combined Regular Season & Playdown record of 20 Wins - 10 Losses - 5 Ties because of a tight race with Sun County, Huron Perth and Brantford, the group of 2013-born boys and one 2014 were treated to an email confirming their spot to compete for an Alliance Championship in Hamilton April 14th-16th.
The four other teams vying for supremacy will be the Waterloo Wolves, Hamilton Huskies, Elgin Canucks, and Sun County Panthers.
Although sights are strictly on winning a championship, the season this group has had is already considered a success. This team is truly a TEAM, with contributions coming from multiple players, stout goaltending, a high compete level, and a willingness to distribute the puck.
