The Sarnia Sting gave up a pair of goals each period in a 6-1 loss to the Kitchener Rangers Tuesday night in Kitchener.

After back-to-back road wins to extend their win streak to three games, the Sting hit a wall in Kitchener, as the offense struggled to score.

Jackson Parsons made 22 saves for the Rangers and was named the game’s third star, while Sting netminder Nick Surzycia stopped 23 of the 29 shots he faced.

Tanner Lam and Trent Swick led the way for the Rangers; Lam scored his second of the season and added two assists, while Swick scored two, including the game winner.

Both were named stars of the game alongside Parsons.

Zach Filak scored the lone Sarnia goal midway into the third period, his fifth of the year, with Marko Sikic picking up the assist. That goal would cut the lead to 5-1 before the Rangers would add another to finish at 6-1.

Sarnia drops to 6-4-0 now this season.

The Sting now look ahead to Friday night when they return home to face the Windsor Spitfires in their third meeting this season. Sarnia has won both of the previous meetings and will look to get back into the win column at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena, where puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

Friday night will feature a pair of players named to the World Under-17 Challenge being held in Charlottetown and Summerside, P.E.I at the start of November.

Hockey Canada announced the 44 players that will represent Team Canada; among them are Sting rookie forward Ryan Brown and Sarnia native Jack Nesbit, the Windsor Spitfires 2023 first round pick.

Brown will play for Team Canada Red, while Nesbit will don the maple leaf with Team Canada White.

Brown and Team Canada Red face off with Finland in Charlottetown, while Nesbit and Team Canada White take on the Czech Republic in Summerside.

The tournament kicks off November 2 and runs through Nov 11.
