The Sarnia Sting have signed defence player Matthew Andersen to an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement.

The Sarnia Sting have signed defence player Matthew Andersen to an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement, the hockey club announced this week.

Andersen was drafted by the Sting in the 9th round, 177th pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection.

The 5’11”, 165-pound Newmarket, ON native has spent the 2022-2023 season with the Sarnia Legionnaires of the GOJHL. Anderson has five goals and 15 assists in 35 games this season.

“Matthew is a player our scouts raved about last season,” said Sting general manager Dylan Seca. “His physical game and level of competitiveness he plays with each game is very hard to find.

“He has progressed very well with the Legionnaires; his development is also a testament to their staff.”
