The Sarnia Sting Hockey Club has announced a series of contract extensions within the team’s Hockey Operations department including General Manager Dylan Seca and Head Coach Alan Letang, who have both agreed to three-year deals.

Associate Head Coach Brad Staubitz, Assistant Coach Michael Haley, Equipment Manager Dawson Young, and Athletic Therapist Jennifer Love will also be returning for the upcoming season.

“As a group, we are proud of the strides we made over the last couple of seasons,” Sting owner David Legwand said in a news release.

"It has laid the foundation for future success and set the expectation moving forward.

"Dylan, Al, and the Hockey Operations group navigated the highs and lows of a season well, learning many valuable lessons along the way. This group has shown the level of hard work and dedication required to win and we look forward to continuing our pursuit together.”

Seca joined the Sarnia Sting ahead of the 2014-15 season after spending three seasons as Director of Player Development for the Ottawa 67’s. After serving five seasons as the Sting’s Director of Player Personnel, a role where he led the Club’s scouting team in

evaluating top OHL Draft eligible talent across North America, Seca was promoted to General Manager in May of 2020.

“We are extremely happy to bring back all of the staff from the 2022-23 season,” Seca said. “This is a professional, compassionate, and hard-working group of people who know what it will to take to get this team back to the top.”

Letang was named the Club’s Head Coach in June of 2021 after spending five seasons with the Owen Sound Attack, including two as Head Coach. During his tenure with both clubs Letang gained extensive experience coaching with Hockey Canada on the international stage. He captured gold medals as an Assistant Coach for Canada’s World Junior U20 team in 2020 and 2023 as well as Canada’s U18 Team at the 2022 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup.

“Alan has shown he’s one of the best coaches in the CHL. He is committed to this organization and more importantly this community,” said Seca.

Under Seca and Letang’s leadership, the Sting have compiled a regular season record of 68-54-9-5 and playoff record of 12-10 over two seasons, highlighted by the Club’s Western Conference Championship Series appearance this spring.

The Sarnia Sting eagerly await the beginning of the 2023-24 OHL season, set to kick off with the Club’s Home Opener against the Windsor Spitfires on Friday, September 29th at 7:05pm.
