The Sarnia
Police Service is investigating a series of commercial thefts which have occurred
involving tractor-trailers at marshalling yards throughout the City of Sarnia.
On June 8,
2024, in the area of Ube Drive, 25 trailers were broken into and a 2019 Kenworth
T680 truck was stolen. The truck was
also hooked up to 2 separate trailers which were also stolen from the
marshalling yard at separate times. The
truck in this instance was located in the Halton Region on the West side of the
Greater Toronto Area.
On June 9,
2024, an East Indian Male, wearing a white surgical mask was located near a
trailer in the area of the 6000 block of Telfer Road in the City of
Sarnia. The customs seal had been cut
off and one of the pallets, within the trailer had been opened. The thief was observed by a driver of the
company and fled the area in a white Mercedes sedan.
Between
June 8th and June 10th, a third incident occurred where a white
2016 Volvo truck was stolen from a location in the 1000 block of Prescott
Drive. At the time of the theft the
truck was affixed with Ontario license plate BX89 131.
The Sarnia
Police Service believes that the three incidents are connected. Operators of Commercial Motor Vehicles are
asked to increase security measures around their facilities. Members of the public are asked to call if
they observe any suspicious behaviour around these facilities.
