More than $47,000 worth of fentanyl was seized in connection to a months-long drug trafficking investigation in Sarnia.

One person has been arrested and more than $47,000 worth of fentanyl seized in connection to a months-long drug trafficking investigation in Sarnia.

Sarnia Police say officers with the Criminal Investigations and VICE units launched an investigation back in August regarding fentanyl trafficking.

“During the course of this investigation, the Sarnia Police located 270 grams of Fentanyl, within a residence, in the 200 block of Napier Street,” a news release stated. “The street value of this fentanyl is $47,250.”

An 18-year-old male was arrested and faces charges related to drug possession for the purpose of trafficking; and careless storage of ammunition.

The accused was held in custody overnight by Sarnia Police, and has been remanded until later this week when he is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing.
