Peacefully at his home on Friday, February 16, 2024, “the Mad Trapper from Northern Ontario” passed away at the age of 96, surrounded by loving family and generous caregivers. Origene was born on April 3, 1927 in Blind River, ON and was named for the local parish priest, thus the unique name. Following successful careers with the VanzDoos in the Canadian Military and the Ottawa Police Force for over 30 years, he retired to Bouchette, QC and the cottage on 31 Mile Lake, where he fished joyfully every day for trout and became the honorary town peacekeeper. Origene will be deeply missed by his family Jean Marc Villeneuve (Carol), Maurice Villeneuve, Pauline Leblond (Robert), Michel Leblond (Patsy); his grandchildren Denis (Abby), Nathalie (Alexis), Jessie Anne, Christophe (Katherine), Marc-Andre (Marie-Claude), Marcel (Emily) and Sylvie. Great grandchildren Nicholas, Mathieu, Xavier, Amelie, Ciena, Alexzound, Marlena, Braslynn, Francis, Florence, Annie-Pier and Kal as well as many friends and relatives. He is predeceased by his three spouses Carmen LaRose, Gilberte Amyotte and Lucille Thibeault. Cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be interred during a private family service. A celebration of Origene’s life will be announced at a later date. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
