With broken hearts, the family announces the passing of Diana Sook Ling Tang, age 88, at Sarnia at Bluewater Health on Thursday, March 28, 2024. Diana was the beloved wife of Garry Tang, loving mother of Leslie Zee (Dickson), Stephen (Denece Dimmer, Wyatt and Owaine Matena) and Lillian Smith (Jeff), the dear Popo (grandmother) of Jasmine and Jade, sister to Jeffrey Chan (Sherry) and aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister (Nan Ching Chan), brother (Sam Chan), and grandsons (Stephen, Christian and Trevor).

We will always be grateful for her strength, words of wisdom, hard work, and the significant sacrifices she made for our family.

Moving to Canada in 1957 from Hong Kong, Diana settled in Orillia, where Garry had already been living. After years of working at Garry’s uncle’s Shangri-la Gardens restaurant, they decided to take a chance and go out on their own. Diana was a vivacious spirit and the force behind Tang’s China House, as she convinced Garry to move to Sarnia to open the restaurant in 1970.

Besides family, Diana found joy in gardening, knitting and playing mah-jong. Diana’s generosity, kindness, and loving nature has touched many people. Many of you may have received her gifts of Chinese trinkets or lucky red envelopes over the years!

Family and friends may visit the D. J. Robb Funeral Home & Cremation Centre (102 N. Victoria St, Sarnia, ON) where the funeral service will be held on Friday, April 5th at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

Charitable donations made in Diana’s memory to the Bluewater Health Foundation through www.bwhf.ca/donate would be appreciated, as the physicians, nurses, PSWs, rehab team and others provided such great care during her stay at the hospital. Memories and messages of condolence may be sent through www.djrobb.on.ca
