Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at home, Douglas passed away at the age of 89. Beloved husband of Jean Doull for 63 and a half years. Loving father of Beth (Doug) Burnley, Bryan (Jasmine) Doull, and Barb (Donna) Lethbridge. Cherished grandfather of Paula Burnley, Joey Burnley (Tim), Cole Burnley (Olivia), Ed Burnley (Janilee), Darryn Doull (Ilinca), Kathryn Doull (Tristain), Jade Perry (Steve), Emily Organ (Graham), and Sara Organ (Andrew), and great-grandfather of Levi, Halle, Riley, Natalia, and Lyla. Dear brother to Doreen Visser and brother-in-law of Joyce Doull. Predeceased by his brother David Doull and brother-in-law Dick Visser. Doug was a Mason for over 50 years as a member of Liberty Lodge #419. Doug lived the Masonic way, showing kindness and acceptance to others. He loved to sing and was a decades long member of the Bluewater Chordsmen and St. Bartholmew’s church choir. Doug was also a member of the Antique Classic Car Club of Canada. He was a man of many interests and never lost his curiosity for science and learning. Doug was a woodworker and an avid builder of whirlygigs and toys, and was a proud engineer who kept his license until 2023. Above all else, Doug was a family man who loved when family gathered. He will be remembered as a calm and wise soul and will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched. Special thanks to Dr. Butler and the palliative home care team for their care and support. Family and friends will be welcomed at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
