 We sadly announce the passing of our loving husband and father, Mr. Thomas Gordon Atkins, lovingly known by many as “Ace”. who was a lifelong resident of Port Lambton, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, May 20, 2024 at the age of 77.  Tom was born in Chatham in 1947 and was the oldest son of the late Gordon and Mildred (Gallerno) Atkins. Tom is pre-deceased by his brother Daniel.

Beloved husband of Ellen (Hay) Atkins.

Loving father of Gavin (Stacey) Atkins, Tyler (Bria) Atkins and Ian (Claire) Atkins.

Sadly missed by his grand children Hayden, Jed, Navy, Ella and Emmy.

Kind brother and brother-in-law of Dave (Bunny) Atkins, Janice (Steve) Miller, Patricia (Rick) Atkins, Bruce (Rose) Atkins, Wayne (Kelly) Atkins, Mary Kay (Chris) Bechard, Jim (Anne) Hay, Tim (Cyndi) Hay and Mark (Marianne) Hay.

Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Tom served in the Canadian Navy from 1968 to 1973 and upon his return from the service he joined Canada Customs where he retired after 30 years of service. Tom was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 18, was a volunteer firefighter and enjoyed participating in reenactments of the Voyageurs and War of 1812.

Arrangements entrusted to the Eric F. Nicholls Funeral Home Ltd. 639 Elgin St., Wallaceburg.
Cremation will take place.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 23, 2023 at 11 a.m. with visitation immediately prior to the mass from 9:30 to 11 a.m., all from Sacred Heart Church in Port Lambton. 

As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 18 may be left at the funeral home.
