Western Research Park makes big cut in power bill

The Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park has been recognized for its efforts in cutting electricity costs by 44% over the last four years.

The Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park has been recognized for its efforts in cutting electricity costs by 44% over the last four years.

The upgrades include improved controls on the facility’s heating and cooling system, LED lighting in the parking lot and 5,500 new energy efficient indoor fixtures.

As a result, the Modeland Road research park expects to save about $380,000 a year on its electricity bills.

For its efforts, it recently received a plaque and recognition from the Electricity System Operator and Bluewater Power.

By taking park in the IESO’s retrofit program, the park also received $194,000 in financial incentives through the local utility.
