Upgrades for Bluewater Health will disrupt traffic near the hospital this fall.

Norman Street will be intermittently closed to through traffic between London Road and Maria Street for a series of crane lifts between now and Oct. 26.

The Emergency Department in Sarnia will remain open during this time with no disruptions to hospital services, but visitors are asked to approach from Russell Street onto Maria Street and then to Norman Street.

Access will remain open for ambulances approaching from London Road, as well as businesses located at the corner of London Road and Norman Street, and the Bluewater Health staff parking lot on Norman Street.

There will be no drop-off location available during the crane lifts, which are scheduled on Sept. 23, 25, 29 and 30 and Oct. 5, 6, 14, 15, 19 and 26.

The upgrades include combined heat and power cogeneration to offset 800 kilowatts of daily power consumption at the hospital.
