Suncor’s Sarnia refinery says “a small amount of hydrocarbon” was released during a loading operation over the weekend.

“Suncor is responding to an incident at our Dock facility,” a notice from the company stated, sent via Lambton Alerts, early Sunday.

“A small amount of hydrocarbon was released during a loading operation which is currently contained.

“Our first priority is always for the safety of our employees, community members, and the environment, and we are making notifications to the appropriate parties to ensure this response has the necessary support.”

The company added that residents may have noticed increased activity around the docks.
