A local suicide prevention group has launched a new holiday fundraiser at the Lambton Mall in partnership with the Sarnia Community Foundation.
The inaugural Tamara’s Trees of Hope, running now until Dec. 3, is raffling off six decorated Christmas trees, along with wrapped gifts, waiting for a new home.
Each tree and gift package ranges in value from $1,000 to $3,000.
“Talk for Tamara intends to make this an annual event, raising awareness during a time of year when mental health care is an integral conversation to have,” a news release stated. “Proceeds from the event will be used to support local agencies involved in suicide prevention and youth mental health as well as educational courses in mental health and mental wellness in our community.”
Talk for Tamara is a non-profit legacy charity fund in memory of Tamara Lynn Lumley who died by suicide in 2018.
