Sinopole wins gold at North American Indigenous Games

An Aamijwnaang First Nation teen is bringing home gold from the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) after Team Ontario won top honours in 16U Male Box Lacrosse.

Julius Sinopole, 14, was part of the gold medal-winning team that defeated Team British Columbia in a 7-6 final Saturday at the RBC Centre in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Sinopole and Team Ontario went undefeated in the games.

The 10th annual North American Indigenous Games, held July 15-23, brought together more than 5,000 athletes, coaches and team staff from 756+ Indigenous Nations to celebrate through sport and culture. The event boasted 16 sports within 21 venues across Kjipuktuk (Halifax), Dartmouth, Millbrook First Nation and Sipekne’katik.
