Sarnia Spirit U17 win gold in Niagara Falls

Journal staff The Sarnia Spirit U17 team captured the gold medal at the 2023 A.C. Douglas Tournament hosted by the Niagara Falls Soccer Club this past weekend. In the first game, Sarnia tied Whitby FC 1-1 with Tori Johnston scoring for the Spirit.

The Sarnia Spirit U17 team captured the gold medal at the 2023 A.C. Douglas Tournament hosted by the Niagara Falls Soccer Club this past weekend.

In the first game, Sarnia tied Whitby FC 1-1 with Tori Johnston scoring for the Spirit.

In game two, Sarnia tied Windsor TFC 0-0 with Shelby Hewitt picking up the shutout.

In game three, Grace Nelles converted on a free kick from Katie Toneguzzo as time expired to give Sarnia a 1-0 win. Hewitt and Paige McKinlay shared the clean sheet.

In the finals, Johnston scored with six minutes left in the game to give Sarnia the win. Hewitt and McKinlay shared the shutout.
