Three Sarnia men in their 30s were arrested and police continue to search for a fourth suspect, following a break, enter and theft that sent one person to hospital earlier this week.

Around 9 p.m., Wednesday, police say officers responded to a complaint of a break and enter in the 800 block of Devine Street in Sarnia.

“Police discovered that four males had broken into a residence and assaulted some of the occupants,” a news release noted, adding one of the occupants sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released from Bluewater Health.

Prior to departing the scene, the suspects stole a television and a bicycle belonging to the victims, police said.

“As a result of a quick response by the attending officers, the investigation has resulted in three of the four assailants being identified,” police said, adding that reasonable grounds have been established to arrest and charge the three males, all age 34, with: break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence; robbery; and assault causing bodily harm. Once of the males faces an additional charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

"The Sarnia Police Service would like the public to know that this was a targeted occurrence and that all parties involved are known to each other. There are no general concerns for public safety in relation to this incident."

Police are still attempting to identify the fourth suspect involved in the incident and are requesting the public’s assistance.

Anyone with information should contact the Sarnia Police at 519-344-8861 Ext. 0 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
