A 37-year-old Sarnia man is in hospital and a warrant was issued following an overnight stabbing, Monday.
Sarnia Police say officers responded shortly after midnight, Feb. 19, following a call from a man reporting he had just been stabbed. Police located the victim at an Exmouth Street residence.
“He was observed to have sustained at least two stab wounds to his back, and was transported to Bluewater Health with serious but non-life threatening injuries,” a news release stated Monday. “Detectives from the SPS Criminal Investigations Division attended the scene and have taken ownership of the investigation.”
A police presence continued at the scene, Monday. "The scene has now been released," police said.
“Information at this time indicates that a group of young person (ages 14-16) and one adult (18) were involved in the altercation with the victim inside his residence,” police added. “The victim had asked the suspects to leave, initiating the altercation. All parties are known to each other.”
Police say the adult suspect has been identified and police are obtaining a warrant for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
“The other involved young persons have been identified and are not facing charges at this time,” police added. “The victim remains in stable condition.”
