Not your typical February water activities

Point Edward's waterfront was filled Tuesday with happy sun worshippers in shorts, as well as a kite surfer whipping from one side of the St. Clair River to the other with no lake ice to worry about.

Local residents were out to bask in record-breaking temperatures that reached 20 C (69 F), well above the previous record high of 13.6 C set in 2000.

These unusual springlike conditions won't last. Environment Canada predicts a cold front moving in Wednesday night that will bring flurries.

In contrast to today's weather, the photo below taken in February 2022, depicts far more typical February conditions with lake ice just starting to break up.
