Northern’s ‘Vikes on Trikes’ relay event made its triumphant return this week, all in the name of Eshe.
Ten-year-old Errol Village student and future Viking, Eshe Lai, has been battling leukaemia for nearly a year.

That’s when Erica Maczko’s Grade 12 students stepped in.
The Recreation and Healthy Active Living Leadership class organized this year’s Vikes on Trikes event and fundraiser, to benefit the Lai family — raising nearly $13,000 to help alleviate the burdens they’ve faced in the midst of Eshe’s challenging fight, which has included months of difficult treatments and lengthy hospital stays.

Maczko’s class organized raffles, collecting donations and prizes, and spread the word in the community by creating a video documenting Eshe’s journey.
On Friday, students, teachers, Sarnia firefighters and Lambton College fire students all joined in the fun, facing off in teams, on three-wheeled tricycles of all kinds, while students cheered on.
