Shirley de Silva has been hired as president and CEO of the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce.
de Silva is relocating from Sudbury and has both a background in the aviation industry and experience with not-for-profit groups, board chair Rob Taylor said.
She also has a communications degree and a Master’s in Municipal Leadership, and impressed Chamber executive with a well-researched and convincing presentation, he said.
The position had been vacant since September when former president Rory Ring left the organization abruptly.
The chamber has approximately 800 members in Sarnia-Lambton.
