Residents can learn how to prepare for the worst when Emergency Preparedness Day returned May 11 to the Clearwater Arena.

The event, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., offers information on how to assemble a 72-hour supply kit with food, water and other necessities, while showcasing the latest equipment and techniques of emergency responders.

“When households are well-prepared and self-sufficient it allows responders and municipal officials to focus on the most urgent issues during a crisis,” said Dean Edwardson, general manager of Community Awareness/Emergency Response.

A barbecue lunch, served by local dignitaries, will be available for a $2 donation to the Salvation Army, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
