A 28-year-old Thedford man faces several charges after police stopped a vehicle in Adelaide Metcalfe, Wednesday afternoon.
Middlesex OPP say the vehicle was spotted traveling well above the posted 90km/h speed limit on Calvert Drive, before a traffic stop was initiated.
“It was determined the individual had previously consumed alcohol at which time an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized,” OPP said in a news release. “The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.”
As a result, the driver has been charged under the criminal code, the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:
· Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80+)
· Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed
· Driver fail to surrender licence
· Fail to surrender insurance card
The driver was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court in July.
