COVID-19 Update for Monday, April 6

Five more residents of Landmark Village have been infected with COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to hit the Sarnia seniors' home to 20, according to information obtained by The Journal.

Communication sent to families of residents Sunday notes that 14 residents had been confirmed positive for the virus, up from nine reported earlier. Five of those residents are currently in hospital, while five are being cared for in their suites at Landmark, officials noted, while four residents have died. Six staff are also infected.

"All appropriate precautions are being taken in accordance with direction from Public Health," officials noted.

As of Monday morning, 80 cases and eight deaths have been confirmed in Sarnia-Lambton.

Currently, 32 people with confirmed COVID-19 are being treated at Bluewater Health, while an additional 9 patients in hospital (presumed to have the virus) are awaiting test results. Thirty-six people with the virus have been asked to self-isolate at home, while three people are listed as recovered.

To date, 380 local tests have been conducted, with 316 negative and 82 pending.
