College president opens show by announcing winners

Journal staff Six Lambton College students were honoured Friday night during the opening of a new show featuring photography, ceramics and drawing at the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts.

Six Lambton College students were honoured Friday night during the opening of a new show featuring photography, ceramics and drawing at the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts.

College President Rob Kardas announced the winners and honorary mentions in each medium. Jurors were photographer Pierre Houle, potter Stef Smalls and painter Lynne Brogden.

And the winners are:

Photo category – Darshan Panthar for “Bubbles.”  Honorable Mention to Vivian Oro Laguna for “Welcome to New York.”

Pottery category – Carol Oostenbrink for “Shift.”  Honorable Mention to Catherine Bull for “Layered Bowl.”

Drawing category – Sydney Godek for “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall.” Honorable mention to Riley DeMarco for “Maki.”

The new show is the work of students and faculty in the Lambton College Arts Collective. Titled One True Sentence, it continues through the month of February.
