Changes to the city’s council procedures begin this month, with an earlier agenda release and longer intervals between meetings.

The public can now access meeting agendas two weeks prior to council meetings, the city said, “providing residents more time to review council business, and to consider appearing as a delegation or provide written input.”

Delegation requests must be submitted to the city clerk no later than noon on the Wednesday before each council meeting.

Previously, agendas were issued the Thursday before council meetings.

In November, council voted to adopt a meeting schedule with four-week intervals, and implement a 1 p.m. start time for a trial period of one year.

Regular meetings were previously held in predominantly three-week intervals, with a 4 p.m. start time. Last April, council voted to approve a 1 p.m. start time for the remainder of the term.

The agenda for the Jan. 16 regular council meeting is now available at https://sarnia.civicweb.net/Portal/.
