Body pulled from St. Clair River identified as missing Sarnia man

A body pulled from the St. Clair River Thursday has been identified as Trevor Morley-Wood, 41, a Sarnia man who had been missing since November, 2022.

Officials say the body was recovered in the water between Mooretown and Courtright just before 12 noon, and was identified through coordinated efforts between the Lambton OPP and Sarnia Police Criminal Investigations Division.

Morley-Wood was first reported missing on Nov. 23 and had last been seen along Sarnia’s waterfront in the early morning hours of Nov. 22.

Sarnia Police noted the extensive efforts that were made in the investigation, including uniform patrol and criminal investigations division; Emergency Response Team (ERT); Sarnia Police drone and O.P.P. Search and Rescue, including utilizing a Marine Unit, dive team, canine and helicopter.

“Similar extensive efforts and resources were used in two other missing person investigations that were reported to the Sarnia Police Service in July and November 2022,” police stated, pointing to the investigations into Trevor Shawn Chaput (34) and Dustin Alexander Ireson (34). Both of these investigations remain open and active, “with ongoing efforts to assist in locating these missing males,” police added.

“The Sarnia Police Service treats all Missing Person investigations with the highest priority and investigates these occurrences thoroughly utilizing all capabilities and resources available.”
