An annual concert held to support mental health and addiction services in Sarnia-Lambton returns to the Suncor Agora stage this September with an all-Canadian lineup of performers.
The annual Block Party, hosted by the Bluewater Health Foundation, takes place Sept. 8-9 at the Centennial Park venue.
Friday’s lineup kicks off with Sarnia’s Townhall Revival, followed by Pearl Jamming, a Pearl Jam cover band; Jagged, an Alanis Morissette cover band, and Grace 2, a Tragically Hip cover band.
Saturday’s acts include Sarnia’s Bad Men Association, along with headliners and Toronto-based, Juno-Award-winning bands July Talk and The Beaches.
“We are thrilled to have so many talented Canadian bands performing at this year’s Block Party,” said Bluewater Health Foundation executive director Kathy Alexander. “This event wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible sponsors and the Sarnia-Lambton community.”
The Block Party was initiated by Sarnia’s Dan Edwards, who wanted to raise money for local mental health and addiction services. Edwards’ success spurred the Foundation to continue the fundraising concerts — from a small, one-night event in 2016, to a two-day festival with a capacity of 2,500 guests per night.
Over the years, the Party has moved from the street outside The Refined Fool to the Suncor Agora on the waterfront, where more people can be accommodated.
More than $160,000 has been raised in support of mental health and addictions services at Bluewater Health.
The all-ages event also features local craft beer and other refreshments, food and artisans from across Lambton County.
