Sarnia is getting its own microbrewery.
The Refined Fool Brewing Company is a local endeavor gearing up to make small batches of craft beers for sale at its 137 Davis St. headquarters.
The company plans to set up a retail store, and has asked Sarnia council for support in a “by the glass” licence application to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
The licence would allow the company to serve a single, 12-ounce serving to patrons at the brewery.
“We’re just a manufacturer, we’re not a brew pub,” said Tony Alexander, one of the owners. “This would give us more flexibility to allow us to maybe have a tour (of the premises) and offer a drink.”
The company said it plans to make a selection of house brands as well as experimental and seasonal beers. They will be available for sale in bottles and a collectable “growler,” or large jug.
The brewery’s executive team is comprised of six directors - Alexander, Nathan Colquhoun, Brandon Huybers, Daniel Slade, Matthew Barnes and Dallas Willms – who describe themselves as friends with a common interest they now want to share with the community.
