Owners of the new Lyck body care shop are banking that their all-natural product lines and a little sassy marketing will spell success.

Lyck Natural Bodycare Inc. opened downtown at 190 Christina St. North in late November, just in time to hold a grand opening celebration on First Friday.

The store is the first retail outlet in Canada for Lyck products, which are manufactured in Vancouver by creator Tyree Hunter.

Hunter is a single mom who began making her own body care products about six years ago and has a busy online trade.

Her success was noticed by two Sarnians – Stu Pacheco and Carolyn Nama – who decided to take the company to the next level and open a storefront.

“Tyree Hunter is definitely interested in growth and was looking for the best way to do it while still keeping creative control,” explains Michelle Schiller, Lyck’s Sarnia operations and marketing manager.

Prior to the store opening, Schiller went to Vancouver to meet Hunter and learn about the product and what she calls the company vision.

“It’s all about a quality product that’s got sexy overtones,” she said.

Best sellers include lip butters that sell for $13.50 each and body butters at $23 a jar. There’s an innovative line of “Glossy Box” products for after waxing and shaving, as well as soaps with names like Lavender Lush and Lemongrass.

Bath bombs come in four scents like Biscotti Hottie and cost $7.25 each.

Lyck has a full line of baby products that includes an oatmeal milk bath and a zinc stick called Chubby Cheeks (retailing for $14.50).

A new men’s line is anticipated in January and Schiller says the owners have their eye on opening more retail outlets in Ontario once the Sarnia store is established.

MUCHO BURRITO ON ITS WAY

The city’s building department has confirmed that Sarnia is getting a Mucho Burrito franchise at 1107 Lambton Mall Rd.

If you’ve taken a drive recently along the portion of Lambton Mall Road between Exmouth and Quinn, you’ll have seen the new Tim Horton’s on the corner at Quinn. A building is under reconstruction next to it that will house the new Mucho Burrito fresh Mexican grill, and another new building is taking shape at the corner of Exmouth and Lambton Mall Road where a new FYidoctors is moving in. It will offer eye care and vision products.

There are several more commercial units in the building where Mucho will locate, but no business names are confirmed for them as yet.
