Sarnia’s plan to allow five homes to be built on the former Kinsmen Centre property on Lakeshore Road has been appealed to the Ontario Municipal Board.
City council approved an Official Plan amendment and zoning bylaw change in December after shrugging off strong opposition from neighbours who argued Sarnia shouldn’t sell off municipal green space for new housing.
Councillors also approved a plan of subdivision for the two acres at 656 Lakeshore Road on Jan. 15.
One area resident has appealed all three of those decisions to the OMB, said Alan Shaw, the city’s planning director.
It’s expected the three appeals will be heard together.
